For our students, part of the Âé¶¹¾«Æ·ÊÓÆµreet School experience includes getting to know more about the historical North End. We strongly encourage you to explore the neighborhood! To get you started, members of the Âé¶¹¾«Æ·ÊÓÆµ community have provided some recommendations to consider.

Pizza

  • : “slices are huge, inexpensive, and veggie’s lover is delicious” (Claire Fruitman, Provost)
  • : Sicilian-style; filled with neighborhood characters; cash only
  • : Since 1921
  • : 2 large slices and a drink for $5

Italian Food

  • : quiet at lunchtime; delicious salads & soups
  • : authentic; good for lunch or dinner w/friend or large group
  • : cozy & casual; wide array of apps, seafood, pizza, and pasta
  • : see and be seen!
  • : great dinner spot
  • : butternut squash ravioli, enough said
  • : best prices around; Neapoletana style

Sandwiches

  • : try Boston Pastrami or Boston Smoked Fish Company
  • : find the hidden alley and you’ll find excellent sandwiches
  • : subs are big enough for two
  • : “mortadella panini w/pear mustard is so good” (Bryan McGrath, Student Life); also homemade pasta
  • : great selection of subs, generous supporter of Âé¶¹¾«Æ·ÊÓÆµ
  • : traditional Italian market and sandwich shop; right across the street!

Other Food

  • : such as Union Square Donuts, The Popover Lady, Noodle Lab
  • : Waterside location w/seafood staples
  • : too many food options to mention!
  • : nice sit-down experience; all-day breakfast/brunch
  • : Mexican food; extensive taco & torta menu at excellent price
  • : America’s oldest restaurant w/nearby historic cobblestone streets
  • Not the North End but don’t forget about the !
  • For healthy juices & smoothies: on Salem St. or in the Boston Public Market

Sweets

  • : old-fashioned Italian goodies; also known for their bread; “cannoli are creamier than the others, and customer service is consistently good” (Sharon Stetson, Admissions)
  • : “cheap coffee & a gift-worthy cookie selection, with Italian attitude” (Kevin Derrick, Marketing), cash only
  • : known for their cannoli; no matter where you are in Boston you’ll see someone carrying the signature Mike’s to-go box with blue font and blue string bow!

Coffee & Tea

  • : “good, strong iced coffee & the best cannoli in North End” (Jamie Dergay, Financial Aid)
  • : “the most authentic Italian coffee” (Melissa Gallin, Development)
  • : large supply of coffee beans
  • : unique blends of tea served iced or hot; can also buy bulk

  • : small grocer; juices & smoothies; deli counter in the back
  • : $1 iced coffee; cheap pizza special; deli; wine, groceries, etc.
  • from Battery Wharf to Rowe’s Wharf: “You can walk to several waterfront parks from school and breathe the sea air” (Barbara Rutkowski, Marketing)
  • : “great prices, never disappointed” (Nate Abbe, Lead student worker); try pineapple fried rice!
  • : next to Copp’s Hill on 44 Hull St.; 10.4 ft at its widest point!
  • : tight squeeze; breakfast & lunch; across from old Âé¶¹¾«Æ·ÊÓÆµ location
