How did your military service inspire you to attend Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ?
I had been aware of Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ for many years, and the idea of being able to attend was a very distant dream. I got involved with Helmets to Hard Hats when I was getting into the carpenters union, and during that process I was made aware of a program that would make it possible for me to attend. I applied through the VA for that program and once it was approved I applied to the school the next day! It changed my life.
How did your military training help you be a successful student at Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ?
The experiences I had in the military showed me how important it is to focus on the important things in life. Obviously family being first, the next thing for me was focusing on my craft. Being able to set aside two years to do so, for it to be at Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ, and for it to be available through the VA was an opportunity I could not let go by.
What is your current job?
I’m self-employed, my company is .
What advice would you give to someone considering Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ or a career in the trades?
Attending Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ really upped the level of work I could produce. It gave me a range that I didn’t have before and exposure to high level customers. I strongly recommend it.
Anything else you would like to share about your Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ experience as a veteran?
The school has such a wide range of people who attend. Veterans have a strong presence there and it is inspiring to see everything they create.
